Corner Lot’s Artea Development on the Southbank Moves One Step Closer to breaking Ground with DIA Approval

Corner Lot’s newest Southbank development, Artea, is one step closer to breaking ground today as the city of Jacksonville’s Downtown Investment Authority unanimously supported the project with an 8-0 vote during its regular meeting, with one board member specifically noting the quality of the proposed project during the vote discussion.

Located on four acres at the intersection of Montana Avenue and Broadcast Place, the $75 million, 340-unit, class-A multi-family development is designed to meet the high demand for residential properties in downtown Jacksonville. The four-story building will include studio, one bedroom, and two-bedroom units. Designed by nationally renowned architectural firm Dynamik Design, Artea will also include a pool, multiple amenity spaces and a rooftop deck for public and private use, and a parking garage artistically-screened in colors that reflect the look and feel of downtown Jacksonville.

“We’re excited that Artea residents will be able to jump on the Skyway to get to work and enjoy the restaurants, parks, entertainment, and other amenities that are being developed downtown,” said Andy Allen, Corner Lot CEO. “This is only the first in a series of transit-oriented residences that are underway. We also have additional projects in development that will allow those residents to use the Skyway to visit their friends and family at Artea and travel throughout downtown.”

Being constructed in partnership with JTA, the transit-oriented development is adjacent to the long-awaited River’s Edge development and will connect to the JTA San Marco Skyway rail station and new bike and pedestrian corridors. Nearby major employers include Baptist Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Nemours Children’s Hospital, Wolfson Children’s Hospital, CSX, Vystar, Wells Fargo, Florida Blue, Black Knight, and Fidelity National Financial. The Downtown Investment Authority’s REV grant approval reflects Artea’s potential economic impact and the important role it will play in the revitalization of Jacksonville’s Southbank. Corner Lot would like to thank the Downtown Investment Authority Board and staff for their continued support of quality development and redevelopment in Downtown Jacksonville. Construction on Artea is projected to begin in Summer 2022 and is scheduled to be complete during the third quarter of 2024.
